FLSA Status: Exempt from Wage and Hour Laws
Directly Supervises: Crew Supervisors

Job description: The Sonoma Operations Coordinator will oversee, train and support the Natural Resource Crew and Community Recycling Crew programs and supervisors. The Sonoma Operations Coordinator will be in charge of daily logistics with regards to preparing both field programs for project assignments, ensuring they have the correct tools and safety supplies as well as providing field support. The Sonoma Operation Coordinator will be responsible for the training and development of the Natural Resource Crew Supervisors in the fields of trail construction, fire fuel reduction, habitat restoration and power and hand tool use. In addition, the Sonoma Operations Coordinator will facilitate the continued growth of the recycling collection and the achievement of grant goals and program requirements. The Sonoma Operations Coordinator will supervise and support the Recycling Crew Supervisor who oversees the daily responsibilities of the collection program and recycling bin construction program. The Sonoma Operations Coordinator also oversees the scheduling and maintenance of the Sonoma operations vehicle fleet and equipment as well as some facilities repairs and upkeep.

All corpsmembers receive professional and educational development through CCNB’s program. The Sonoma Operations Coordinator will ensure that all corpsmembers in the programs receive initial and on-going mentorship and educational support. The Sonoma Operations Coordinator will support the program supervisors, with the guidance of Human Resources and/or Sonoma Program Director when addressing corpsmembers issues around violations of organizational policy.

Duties and responsibilities:

Supervision and Training:

    * Provide daily logistical support for all field crews; including vehicle and equipment delivery, materials purchasing and crew transportation as needed.
    * Provide resource project over-site and quality control to ensure projects are completed on time and budget.
    * Manage Shop Supervisor; hire, train and provide budgetary oversight.
    * Provide secondary supervisory coverage for crew supervisors
    * Develop/Implement all hand and power tool training procedures for field staff and participants; direct chainsaw training program, provide all chipper operations training, maintain all training records.
    * Assist with training crew leadership positions; Crew Supervisors, Crew Leaders, Assistant Crew Leaders and Safety Officers.
    * Oversee crew Safety Officer Program in conjunction with Human Resources department.
    * Manage facilities; hire and oversee cleaning contractor, direct grounds maintenance, coordinate all facilities opening/lock-down procedures, and control costs.
    * Prepare and train CCNB Supervisors for Class B drivers testing. Conduct CCNB class C driver tests. Maintain all records in conjunction with Finance Department.


Program(s) Development & Coordination:

    * Establish new program recycling clients and collection points
    * Solicit new special event clients for collection and support the preparation prior to and during the events
    * Work with supervisor to develop project goals and objectives and new projects applicable to the recycling program
    * Meet with natural resource project partners to discuss project scope and work with Sonoma Program Director on written proposals.
    * Manage CCNB vehicle fleet; provide inspection and maintenance training for all drivers, collect daily vehicle inspections, coordinate all maintenance and repairs with fleet maintenance contractor. Maintain all records. Monitor and control all costs.
    * Insure CCNB Policies and disciplinary procedures are implemented in conjunction with the HR Department.
    * Develop/Implement in conjunction with HR Department CCNB Safety Plans. Assure compliance with all relevant OSHA labor laws.
    * Participate with hiring & termination procedures for corpsmembers.


Administration:

    * Develop and oversee tracking systems and database for recycling collections, public outreach and education, grant objectives and corpsmember hours
    * Monitor and compile data from supervisor Natural Resource Daily Logs and Project Reports for grant objectives and annual reporting.
    * Provide purchasing/procurement of tools, equipment, project materials, uniforms, grounds and facilities in support of all CCNB operations.

Education and experience: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

    * Education - Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in environmental science/studies, community studies, other social science field, from an accredited college or university
    * Experience –Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification. Clean driving record and ability to obtain a California Class B Driver's license.
    * 3 to 5 years experience supervising various levels of staff in outdoor environmental field work.

The Sonoma Operations Coordinator works outdoors around equipment and machinery, walking on uneven ground and steep hillsides, with exposure to excessive noise, fumes and extremes in temperature. They may be expected to:

    * Lift and move objects weighing up to 75 lbs, and carry objects at least ½ mile
    * Use special visual and auditory protective equipment
    * Walk and stand; sit and bend; squat and climb; kneel and twist; to talk or hear
    * Use hands to operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
    * Use hands to perform simple and power grasping, and fine manipulation; to push and pull.
