OUR MISSION

For the health of our land, water, and people, we the Bay Area Open Space Council foster an interconnected system of healthy communities with parks, trails, agricultural lands, and natural areas throughout the region.

OUR VISION

By 2025
The Bay Area’s two million acres of thriving parks, trails, agricultural lands and natural areas sustain our quality of life and provide natural beauty, diverse habitats, native flora and fauna, affordable healthy food and clean air and water.

Every Bay area neighborhood is within walking distance of a park, trail or natural area, and most Bay area parks are reachable by public transit.

Sustainable funding exists to acquire and maintain important lands and provide healthy habitats, recreation and educational opportunities.

OUR CORE VALUES

As a regional leader, we the Bay Area Open Space Council embody the following values in our work:

  • We provide visionary leadership to advance land and water conservation and to sustain the rich legacy of our nine Bay Area counties.
  • We facilitate networking and honor inclusiveness by creating new alliances and bringing people together to share information and take action to improve our communities.
  • We celebrate the natural beauty and uniqueness of the region’s land and people by ensuring the protection of its natural resources
